UPCOMING EVENTS IN SEATTLE & COSTA RICA
The Art of Discernment:
Listening for the Voice of God
A SILENT RETREAT WEEKEND
MAY 27-28, 2011
SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA
1) Discernment Retreat
DESCRIPTION: 3 pm Friday - Saturday 5 pm
This overnight retreat plunges us into an age-old practice of "Discernment," the process of "sifting and sorting" what in our life is truly life-giving. We will focus both on Discerning in daily life and how we make bigger decisions in light of our relationship to that still, small voice of wisdom. Expect to learn a variety of tools & skills which enable us to see how we have made decisions in the past and how we might choose from the most authentic part of our being. The format will include prayer, guided meditations, reflection periods, small group conversation and a significant period of time in silence. We will be utilizing insights from the 16th century Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius as well as modern day approaches to discover what is life-enhancing and what does not lead us closer to ourselves, others and the deepest source of all.
Note: One need not be Catholic to attend this retreat and benefit from it. Also, CD's will be available for purchase to help us apply the experience & tools more deeply into our busy lives.
Our Retreat Facilitator:
Timothy Malone, M.Div is a spiritual director and retreat leader with the SEEL program (The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life) in Seattle, USA. He leads seminars in Spirituality, World Religions and ways of praying for adults. He is currently pioneering a "spiritual companioning" training program in faith communities to which individuals mentor each other in the spiritual life. He is grateful to be invited back to lead a second retreat in Costa Rica. www.timmalone.org |
