It was the dogs who woke them all up. Whining like scared children during a Halloween story the dogs ran out the cave.
But Sammy and the other monk were standing near his bed. The boy jumped out of his bed. Sammy motioned him to come follow.
He whispered for the boy to creep stealthily like the snake they wanted to see. There, in the light of Sammy's flashlight,
was a creature moving slow and steady into the side of the cave. It’s head the size of a German shepherd’s.
Its' body glistening like a dragon's hide full of rubies. Like a worm it squirmed across the temple floor.
The three of them watched as the baby snake slid carefully into the side of the cave, and was gone.

They each waited without saying a word until the snake had passed into its “hole-y” home for good. Then the boy let out his breath, not realizing he had been holding it for what seemed like hours! Just as the boy relaxed, having watched the baby python slowly slither away, a light could be seen beyond the mist that settled on the mountainside.
Then before the light leapt up from the horizon so did the boy's legs. They heard a loud screech up above the cave opening, and ran out to see what was the matter. They saw a monkey scrambling up the cave side -just out of reach of the biggest snake the boy had ever seen! It slithered up the cave wall like a long thick rope. But this was no rope that was climbing the cave wall with such ease. This hungry reptile was clearly as wide as your thigh and as long as a fire hose! The biggest snake in the jungle sought the monkey, and this time, he failed. But he would be back to try again.
